Turning photos to colour

So this is a work in progress but I'm quite happy with the results so far so decided to share it. Do you remember this tutorial to colourise historical Black & White photos?  Well I had a go at a photo of my sister and I when we were little.  I haven't done the clothes or the background, and I'd like to work on the hair a little bit more (blond hair is tricky!) but I like where it is going.  I have some family history photos that I would like to try next but one step at a time!  Here is the before and after.

Beci Orpin

I received Beci Orpin's book 'Find & Keep' in the mail last week and I am so in love with it.  I keep poring over the pages, it is so beautifully designed and the projects are so inspiring.  I thought it would just be a projects book (albeit a really awesome projects book) but it is actually much, much more.  Beci goes through some of her creative process and talks about how to get inspiration.  Crafternoons, here we come.

Design Workshops

I seem to have an insatiable thirst for learning but this year, I'm taking a year off formal study (although there is always mid-year entry).  I have however, signed up for a few workshops instead.  Hopefully, the fun and short nature of these workshops will be less stressful than full time study but I have managed to book in quite a few!

Amazing Historical Photos

Mads Madsen is the person responsible for these amazing photos currently doing the round on the internet.  He colourises historical, black and white photos that make them look really natural.  Most of the photos are from the American Civil War but there are some other historical people as well like Charles Darwin and Albert Einstein.  One of the best things is, he has also posted a web tutorial and video tutorial to show you how it's done (I have also posted the video tutorial at the end of this post).

Moss Graffiti

This post about creating graffiti in moss from Crafting a Green World is just beautiful!  It's worth having a look at the instructions on their blog, it seems quite easy.  I would be interested in trying it on a flat rock, it could be quite a novel branding idea.

DIY Floor Mats

I love projects. I'm always looking for new projects to add to my list, craft and sewing projects, design home, home projects, anything.  I definitely add more things to my list than I complete but that's OK.

I found a new project via The Thousands on how to make a rug using a hoola-hoop.  Could be fun!
